RECENT PROJECTS

Project THRIVE! is a financial counseling and career development program that addresses the spiritual, psychological and societal causes of under employment and the wealth divide.

PROBLEM WORTH SOLVING

Poverty Rate

Philadelphia remains the poorest large city in the United States, with 21.7 percent of residents living below the poverty line in 2022. 380,000 people struggle daily to cover necessities like food, shelter, clothing and healthcare.

In Philadelphia, 15% of 16- to 24-year-olds  — roughly 30,000 young people — are currently not enrolled in school or employed. 37% of  all Philly children live in poverty.

According to work done by researchers from Columbia University and the City University of New York, each unemployed youth — someone between the ages of 16 and 24 who is in neither in work nor school — costs taxpayers nearly $14,000 dollars per year in direct costs for things like medical bills and government aid, while ultimately creating a “social burden” of more than $37,000 annually (when accounting for the costs of crime and lost tax revenue).

Project THRIVE! aims to change these statistics. It’s no longer just about getting by. Our counselors want you to THRIVE!
